hardwiring a radar detector
Hello folks,
I have hardwired my radar detector. I went to the upper left corner of the windshield, ran the wires down the a pillar and under theknee cover. The belltronics does not have an auto shut off and the only wire that was hot and close is in the first cluster. I believe it is to the satelite/radio. Does any one have know which wire (color coded under the dash) is hot in run only.
I have a feeling this little ticket saver will eventually kill my battery over a period of time as I forget to turn it off.
The nice gents at circuit city (I hate that place but it was on sale there) wanted 29 bucks to tell me the wire color.
Thanks,
Garry

From what I have read some run wire from the fuse box in the trunk or engine compartment. I'm sure you know that you can use a volt meter toprobe for a 12v lead that isn't hot when the key is off.
Somebelieve the best way is topull the passenger-side "A" pillar and tap wires there. The positive wire is the pink one, the negative is the black one with the green stripe.
Good luck and if you would post up what you've decided to do.
