Default Begining to Mod

Hi ev-1! I was prowling the forum reading all the posts and was happily impressed with the attitude and the amount of info available here. I did the K&N thing and was looking at a catback system for the next project. I've been impressed in the past with Borla and I am glad to see so many people like them here. The dealer tech guru suggested Borla also and said they really compliment the hemi engines. I love the stock exhaust note on the Daytonas and I am a little leary about destroying it for little or no gain, not to mention 800 dollars later. I see that Borla offers two systems, one with and one without the resonators and was wondering if you still get a hp boost on the sytem with the resonators and does the one without kill the exhaust note going in and out of MDS?
I was also looking at the Mopar long tube headers but was more than a little put off by the 1000+ price tag. Are they worth it? At this time I am mostly looking for bolt-ons that won't spit out CELs right and left. Any suggestions in this regard? Thanks!-Rob

Your not going to see much HP out of a catback right off the bat. That is once you add a CAI and other mods like headers/cam/heads they all play better together, the HP gain from each item is increased.

If you shop around you will find the Mopar headers are a mid length between the short and long tube headers. 1000 isn't a bad price for those. If I had to do it again personally I would go with Mopars. As far as CELs, long tube headers have been the worst. Since getting a Predator tuner and using it's option to tell the PCM to ignore the rear O2 sensors I haven't had a CEL since.

Some with borla will probably chime in with their thoughts on drone and exhaust note of Borla.

Thanks Mango, no wonder I loved the exhaust note on my car.....It felt and sounded like a high flow and afterI looked at your undercarriage clip I crawled under and found out it's a JBA sytem. Now I just need to determine if the the cats were replaced too. Mine was a dealer repo with 1636 miles on it and I never thought they would'veupgraded anything in the first 1500. With your headers, exhaust and predator, do you have any trouble passing emissions? Thanks again!-Rob

Yes the cam/headers/high flow cats/SuperChips at the time didn't help emissions testing. Knowing people in low places helped out
