Grinding Brake noise
I've read lots and even posted on squeeky brakes but how about a grinding noise and feel when it rains. Sounds and feels exactly like brake pads worn down to the rivets thus resulting in that dreaded rotor grind. I have checked them afew times over the past 30K miles and pads and rotors are good. This happens when brakingmost noticableafter exiting interstate only in the rain. It will continue to do this grinding thing for a while even after the initial stopping then magically disappears. I would think if it were a moisture thing after the initial stop they would dry or any rust would be gone, but that is not the case as it continues for a while. Rotors are clean, smooth (but not glazed) and not warped or rusted. Any thoughts or anyone with similar problem?
My frontbrakes wore out at almost exactly 30K miles. They went from fine to bad very quickly. They kind of had me fooled for a while, because they did not grind all of the time at first.
Don't wait to replace the pads, if you do it wil cost $$$.

They have been doing this right along and i've done my share of brake jobs, it isn't the pads. My driving is all highway and I've got 33K on the car and pads are still in good shape.
you guys are lucky - 30k mileage !
have 3100 on my 07 and the front right squeals like a B*TCH. took it to the dealer where i bought it and get all my work done and they say its all NORMAL noise [:@]
as far as the grinding noise the only time i get that is right after it rains when the rotors are rusted over
Currently looking at slotted rotors all around but have heard both good and bad about them - so looking for all the info i can about them b4 i plunk down @ $400 for front and rear!
startin to believe what i read on here that chrysler brakes suck !

I used Disc Italia rotors from Brakeworld, and Hawk ceramic pads, available everywhere. They are both awesome, the pictures on the website do not do them justice. No brake dust even after 2 weeks of heavy driving. My wheels used to be black after 4 or 5 days...

Hey Scott (Subvet) -- My Charger was exactly the same... squeeking like crazy once I bought and had the dealer look at it when I took it in for the first oil change. They said it was normal and it did in fact go away. I am at about 13-14K I think it was gone around 7-8K.
Mango -- You say the OEM pads are giving you a lot of dust? I notice the same and am in the process of getting some new fancy wheels. Is this definitely a OEM pad thing?
Would switching to any other pads likely reduce the amount of dust, keeping my new wheels cleaner, longer? Are there some particular brands that one should steer towards to keeping the dust down?
