When I saw that the 09 Ram was getting a 380 horse Hemi I was excited and hoped we would see the performance gains in the street cars as well. I was playing on the Dodge website and it shows the 09 Challenger R/T having 370 horse and finally a six speed manual available as well. Good news all around. Although I find it a bit odd that the truck hemi has more stock horse than the car when in the past it has been the other way around. The SRT8 remains unchanged at 425. I believe that the current Hemi in the trucks is rated at 345 vs. our 340. But hey, I'd take a rated 370hp! I'm actually not that happy with my 06, so 09 or even 1010 might be a good time for me to take another look. Why am I not completely satisfied with my 06 you may ask? It's the suspension.Consumer Reports' one complaint with the LX cars is the suspension. I just this weekend put new Monroe shocks and struts on and they are much better, but the spring rates are still not compatible - too stiff initially. I know I'm about the only one who complains about this, but after riding/racing dirt bikes for a long, long time, I know the spring rates are off on these cars - too stiff initially, and too soft at the far end of the suspension stroke. Maybe the new Chrysler Group will get a handle on this by 09 or 10.
