I did some checking around and it seems that this topic has come up in regards to cops/K9 units and having the keyless work with the car running in other places.

It looks as if the dealer can't do anything about it like you mentioned above. What some are doing is getting an after market remote starter installed that allows them to hit a button and remove the key and the car stays running.

The 2 units they are talking about is a Crimesgaurd unit and a Clifford unit.

Getting the station to pay for it might be tough, especially if you are a cop in a small rural area, but that is looking like your main option right there.

Going aftermarket might be your only choice here.

Thanks, I will look into these but like you said with the economy the way it is.... its a long shot with budget cuts. One of the main reasons we're trying the Chargers is because they are $7000 cheaper than the Tahoe.. But wow these AWD'S handle better than the Tahoe on slick roads and mountain passes.. We'll see how the ground clearance comes into play on forest service roads this summer. Thanks again..

Anyone else have any suggestion on how to circumvent the keyless entry safety feature on the 09 Charger?

It looks like aftermarket remote starters is the way to go.

Have you approached the dealership service department to see if they can delete that "feature" for you. Their starscan can get into and tweek every option there is available on these cars.

On my 06, with the car on press the power lock button on the door / get out /then press manual lock on the door / shut the door. Keep the other key with you and the fob will unlock the door it just wont lock it.

The only budget angle is if you toss 500 into a remote start your still 6500 ahead of the Tahoe.

Default Did you find how to setup your keyless entry?

I have a charger 2008, marked unit, and it is a pain to remove the key everytime. Were you able to find out how to lock it while running? thanks

Just checked the owner's manual and they have procedures to enable/disable the auto lock/unlock functions. It can be done with or without an evic.

If you don't have access to the owner's manual, you can download one from Dodge for free. Go to the Dodge web site and click on the "for owners" link in the upper right corner. The link to the manuals will be in the middle of the next page.

Don't know if this is what you are looking to do but it costs $0 Hemi bucks and a few minutes of time to check out if your dealing with a budget.
