Default 2008 Charger 2.7 Trnsmission

I have had my 2008 Charger (2.7L V-6) for about 8 months, and wanted to get the transmission fluid and filter changed (I bought it used, and it has more than 30,000 miles on it). Two questions. First, how often do you recommend I get the fluid and filter changed? Second, how many quarts of transmission fluid does the car need?

The 2.7 and 3.5L has 42RLE transmission: Service Fill - 3.8L (4.0 qts), Overhaul Fill - 8.3L (17.6 pts)

The 5.7 and 6.1L has the NAG1 transmission: Service Fill - 5.0 L (10.6 pts.), Overhaul Fill - 7.7 L (16.3 pts.)

I believe the service manual that comes with the car says every 30K on schedule A which isn't driving in a harsh environment.

Pardon my bad manners.... welcome to our forum.

Hi, welcome to the forum. I use one of our local transmission shops, I don't trust JIffy Lube any farther than I can throw them, I've heard many horror stories and had several problems with them in the past. ie... left off oil cap(on my truck)... broken filler tube (jeep) ... loose filter (jeep). The tranny shop will do the job right for about a third of the dealer cost. I pay $59.99 and I've had them do my truck 15 times with never a problem.(177,000 miles) My average wait was an hour. I don't have the knack to do tranny pans without getting a leak. lol -Rob
