Default Intake Q.

I've heard that you can put the 6.1 intake on the 5.7 for an easy boost. Is it true or just heresay? The only aftermarket ones I've seen aren't emissions legal. I vaguely remember something about running 6.1 injectors but wasn't that for heavily modified engines? Thanks! -Rob

Making the engine breath better is a key to performance. I would say that is true, the cost of the intake isn't cheap and you will need some spacers to get it to match up with the heads. Throw in a bigger throttle body and heads with bigger valves on top of the 6.1 intake and you will have a great setup.

I ran the 6.1 injectors in the past and went back to the 5.7 injectors. The 6.1 injectors will run pig rich unless you get it tuned. I had a slight surge when crusing on the highway but that wasn't on a tuned setup.

Thanks Mango, what did it run you to have your iintake ported? Was it local or did you send it out to a shop? I did buy the 85mm CNC ported throttle body but I haven't put it on yet so I imagine I'd get the best results if I matched the porting on the intake as well.

It was a local buddy that did it for 125.00.

You probably want to wait and have Heads/6.1 Intake ported. The plastic 5.7 intake doesn't breath as well as the 6.1 so port improvments wouldn't be as noticible.

It's not fair to say it's an easy bolt on boost cause you need the right setup to take advantage of the bigger intake.

PowerWagon869 is producing 400 HP & 450 TQ with his 5.7 (6.1 intake, ported/milled Mopar Performance heads, Mopar headers, Spartan Max cam) so in his case the 6.1 heads have helped.
