Default Start up ticking sounds like valve's

When i start up my 06' charger a ticking sound is there. I have 71,000 miles on my 3.5l dohc engine. When i drive for about 5 miles the sound goes away but it is concerning and need help on what to do? I just changed the oil and that seemed to help. It never started with a ticking sound on start up before.

Looking for help,

roman

I don't know to much about the 3.5 engine, but like lionheart stated, sometime low octane gas or even bad gas can cause this to happen. Also, using the incorrect oil can do this.

If it was the Hemi, I would tell you that it was normal.

When it stops after the 5 mile drive, the engine is warmed up and pressurized, which usually points to bad gas.

Actually on the 3.5 the lifters are a common cause of "the tick"
