Exclamation 2006 lighting problem

just bought a used 2006 to give the wife.... the rear running lights keep blowing the fuse. I replace the fuse and it will work for a bit and then blow.

I see on the internet a lot of chatter about the rear lights but no direct cause identified. Does anyone have any ideas? is the a common problem with the 2006? All the wiring looks good and the brake lights will always work even when the running light fuse is blown.

I need help before I end up in the doghouse forever!!!!!!!!

Found the problem, the wiring harness had dropped down and was touching the muffler causing a short. I fixed the problem and the tail lights again work.

Thats a bad route for the harness to travel. Directly over the muffler pipe...

Welcome to the forum TXCharger.

I saw a thread on another forum with the exact same resolution...
"Went to the dealer. According to the mechanic the wiring harness had dropped down and was touching the muffler causing a short. He fixed the problem and the tail lights again work. "

Glad it's resolved!
