is it ok to call a challenger a charger?
i love the oldschool dodge charger but was dissapointed when it came out with a 4-door. now i have enough money for a challenger. since the challenger is a 2-door charger i was wondering if its ok to remove the challenger nameplate and replace it with the charger nameplate
Sure you can substitute your reality if you want but if you’re a "real" car person I would say no. It's like taking a RT and putting a SRT8 badge on it or putting Super bee decals on a Yellow RAM truck and saying it part of the first swarm.
There is a company down here in Miami that modified the 4door charger to a 2 door. That might be something that you can look into.
To answer your question though, I wouldn't change the badging the reflect a different model all together. I personally laugh at any car that is badged incorrectly. From hondas to mustangs to non hemi dodges with hemi badges. Nust my opinion though.

these aren't real chargers anyway...they look like buicks ..mopar will do anything to make a buck. i own a real charger from the early 70's. chargers are 2 door sports cars..not baby haulers and yuppy mobiles.
wtf was mopar thinking in making a charger a 4 door? how shameful to put the charger logo on a glorified buick...it is the aging baby boomers with male pattern baldness buying these sedans

if i recall the magnum, 300c, and charger are LX
challenger is LC
no muscle car will ever come back, that was a thing of the past... as much as i would like it to, i dont think it will
things are made more what the majority would like, not just a very few percentage that buy 2 doors these days

No. Calling a Challenger a Charger is stupid. Just because its got 2 doors doesnt make it the same thing...
As for what they were thinking, obviously they knew the market much more than you. Chargers are flying off lots. They were just in the top 5 of hardest vehicles to get, the only American car to do so. I for one LOVE the new Chargers. If it had to be a 4 door sedan, thats the one Id purchase. Ill take a 4 door Charger and a Challenger, over just a two door Charger, anyday. It would be impossible for them to have no 4 door and two 2 doors. And Id much rather have the Charger name on a 4 door than the Challenger name.
I rarely hear any whining about the 80s Chargers; is a front-wheel drive two door anymore deserving of the Charger name than the 4 door, right wheel drive new Charger is? I think not. Either way, theyre all Mopar, and thats what counts.
