This might answer the old age tale of letting these new cars running out of gas and destroying the fuel pump.
This is just a rumor and you will be the first that I have ever heard this happening to because I have never met anyone that ran out of gas, but I heard that the fuel pump will die if you run out of gas. Meaning it can not run without fluids. Adding gas doesn't fix the problem. Replacing the fuel pump does.
I have heard and seen this with the medical equipment that I work on where the pumps/vacuum systems can not run dry at all so when I heard that the fuel pumps of today are the same way, I did not right it off.
Gonna have to have a dealer check on it.

The LX cars are really sensitive to running out of fuel. It is certainly possible that running it dry once fried the pump.
Also, because it uses a saddle type tank, the pump may be air locked between one side and the other.
If you are mechanically inclined, you can turn the key on and check the test port at the fuel rail to see if there is any pressure in the line. If not, the pump is likely the culprit.
