Default I'm hearing things!

I am hearing this high pitched electronics type noise, coming from the front of the car. It only happens while driving at a constant speed, like when the cruise control is on. But the cruise doesn't need to be activated to hear it just as long as you are maintaining a constant speed. It usually starts at around 40mph.
Does anyone have any ideas, its starting to drive me crazy!

In your other post you mentioned it sounded like it was behind the dash. Does that mean it's in the cabin or engine compartment?

Then you need to get some better music for your CD player and turn it up louder
If it starts at 40, it might be something in the transmission maybe?

Sounds like its in the engine compartment not the dash.
If its the transmission then what is it?

Well, the reason I said that is because the noise may be starting after a certain upshift as in 2-3 or 3-4 that coincides with the speed symptom. See if that's the case.
