Unhappy Check Engine and ETC lights on turn of key.

Hey all,

my 2006 3.5L V6 is currently giving me a Check Engine Light and an Electronic Throttle Control Light when I turn the ignition. After about 2-3 seconds of turning over the ETC light goes out, the check engine light remains on.

The catch is my car will not start. Why would it do that? Neither light was on at all while the vehicle was running last, I just went out to start it this morning and now this.

Appreciate the help!

You need some diagnostics done Jason. No way to know without codes or looking at the scan tool. Sorry.

Just to follow up on this issue. It ended up being the Upper Intake Plenum and one of the electric motors giving out trying to move a siezed part. So final repair bill, $2200.00 :S Original is no longer manufactured and all the salvage yards I have talked to will not sell me that part without buying the whole engine anyway. The modern replacment is available at about $2000.00 which is crazy.

WHOA!!!! Who told you that? On backorder..yes, maybe. Unavailable?...noooo. Do them all the time, and they're not $2000. More like 5 or 6 hundred.

I thought the intake plenum only cost 3-4 hundred bucks as well. Who did you talked to? and labor wise, you should be about to change it out in less than an hour.

Anyhow, get it done soon. I've seen things breaks off those plenum and drop inside the engine. (catastrophic failure)

Well, she paid us $5000 ish for a new engine. My co-worker bang the intake a few times on the bench, i saw few metal pieces fell off.
