Manual Gear Selection
Info: 09' Charger SXT AWD 3.5L
When I manually select gears (slapping the stick towards the driver or passenger), there seems to be a loooooong time between me hitting the stick and the trans selecting the desired gear. This seems to be a computer delay, as if throttle position, load, speed, rpm, are all part of the equation in timing the next gear change. I have been in other vehicles with auto trannies and manual selection modes. All of these other cars have instant (relatively) gear changes compared to my charger.
Is there a fix for this? Or is this feature absolutely useless?

Mine was pretty instantaneous on my Charger and is on my Caliber. Not sure why yours is a little slow.
As far as it being useless, it pretty much is though. If you run wide open throttle, it still shifts by itself so you won't blow the engine. When you are slowing down, it will downshift automatically to put you in the proper gear as well.
I never use the feature on my Caliber (always get into though accidentally though since I drive with my hand resting on the shifter) and my Charger the only time I used it was when I dynoed it and when I want to have that "race" feeling when I wanted to go fast. Other than that, I still don't know what the heck autostick is for. LOL!!!! And it seems everyone is putting in their cars now a days.
