The lockout mechanism failed on my wife while out of town.She was able to "break" it loose to keep from being stranded.I ordered the aluminum replacement for the lock out mechanism (replaces the pink part),but when I went to install it I found how she managed to break it loose.The plastic peice that the linkage bolts to is also broken.This is the piece that slips down over the shifter stud and is held in place by a rod running from side to side.I have tried to upload a picture with no luck,if it would help I can e-mail the picture if neede.I am hoping to be able to get this part on line without buying more than I actually need.The part is for a 2006 Charger R/T

Sounds like you need a new shifter.
