Default Question about ECM

the diagnostic code i'm getting is loss communication with ecm...

i've had the flashdrive updated. if i buy a new ecm, will that take care of the problem? i know it's expensive but it beats wasting money trying to find exactly what the problem is...

This isn't an answer to ur question but I have an 06 R/T and I'm having the same code,U0100 lost comm with ECM. My car has random episodes where it will die about 5 different times when I start it and when on the highway it will constantly fall on it's face when I try to punch it. Does ur car do this too? I have found a website where u can buy an ECM programmed specifically for ur car for 295.00. I would like to know the answer to ur question too.

yes, my car randomly dies for a split second and then comes back on or sometimes it won't start at all. i know the website you're talking about regarding the $295 programmed ECM but i was told just this weekend by a friend of mine who has worked in the service shop at a dealership that those programmed ECM's are will not allow your car to start. He said they program them but they cannot update the computer with all of the dodge updates that your dealership can. furthermore, he said you will have to TOW your car there... i don't know if that's true but i would call the website first to check and hopefully they will be honest.

sounds like pretty much the same thing as mine except has never NoT started back. Mine is actually acting normal at the moment but when it decides to act up it will die like 4 times before I can get out of my driveway, it will die when I pull up to a stop sign or red light. Sometimes it will die while I'm initiating a turn,"really dangerous". When I'm on the highway at cruising speeds, say 65mph it won't really do anything but as soon as I try to punch it,it will fall completely on it face and won't come back up until I let off the gas. Even backfires sometimes and makes the transmission jerk. If ur transmission jerks to when ur car does it tht might b where ur transmission code is coming from. I will b sure to check on tht ECM place, it might b worth it to get the ECM from the site place then let the dealership update it and put it in cause I think an ECM through a dealership is about 700.00 not including labor

i had a flight recorder put on my car friday and had it read today. turns out they think it's the MAP sensor. they're sending it to chrylser to make sure. i hope it is because that's only a $25 part and my boyfriend can put it on.

Hmmm, tht would b a better deal if it's just the MAP sensor. I wanna say tht when I talked to a mechanic in the service dept tht Im taking my car to now he said tht it could either b the MAP or the ECM cause they show similar symptoms. How much did they charge u to have the flight recorder put on? Keep me posted on wat happens

they didn't charge me anything for the flight recorder...probably because they felt sorry for me since i've had my car in there five times now. as of today, no new news on the readings so it's not confirmed that it's actually the MAP sensor. tech is going back to...plugs and coils...they're determined to get $700 from me for plugs and coils and i'm just about fed up with them and the plugs and coils. thats not the problem! i'll keep you posted.

Have you tried posting this on charger or lx forums? Couple years ago I've seen this issue posted by other LX owners. chances are you'll find an answer soon, wish I could recall what the outcome solution ended being.

Don't waste your money on coils and plugs, you would get a completely different CEL, something along the line of "random misfires."

too late, i already wasted my money....((
turns out i need a pcm...
just trying to figure out now if i order a rebuilt one online which says it's programmed, if it really is...i've been told by two mechanics that i would still have to take it to dodge and have it flashed... so why does the website say you can just put it in and go!??

Wow that's crazy! There is absolutely no rhyme or reason why they even remotely should of pondered to swapping could and plugs. I would talk to Chrysler (Was this a Chrysler dealership?) and have them rectify the problem by reflashing a new module free of charge.
