Default Extra Remote and keys

I just bought a 2010 Charger and they only had 1 remote/key for the car. Where can I get a spare key. Do I have to go to Dodge to get it and if so about how much are they.

Thanks Chris

Chris,

You would need to go to the dealer for a new key. I just bought one for my Liberty and the price was $135. Some of the older keys could be programmed but even then you need two existing keys to add any additional keys. There are many sites online that will sell you the unit but the dealer would still need to program the key(s) for you anyway.

Just another thought out of right field. Does your car have remote start? If not were you thinking of getting it? If so you may want to ask your dealer about a Mopar remote start kit. It comes with 2 new keys. So instead of spending $125-$150 for 1 new key check the price on the remote start kit instead and maybe kill two birds with one stone. Just an idea......

I am in the same boat. My FOB died and I bought 2 new ones online and tried to program myself by grounding pin 1 to pin 4, but it doesn't work on my 2008 Charger. There has to be a way to program at home. Has anyone had any success with this?

That battle cannot be won Andrew. Just be happy your dealer likely wants less than 320$ to program.
