Default Performance Chips and Such?

Hey guys, I'm new to the Charger, ended up selling my Ram. My question is what are people doing as far as performance? I'm looking at adding a programmer and not sure which one to go with, never chipped a vehicle before. Also does anyone know what kind of mileage to expect from any of this? I do a lot of driving every day and don't want to kill the gas mileage, wouldn't mind making it a little more efficient and gain some power. Also I have seen on some other forums that people are disabling the MDS system, what is the logic in this?

Thanks, any help appreciated
Oh, the new ride is a 2006 Charger R/T 5.7

As metioned, the Diablo tuner is one of the better tuners in the market. They currently have a new version which in turn is adaptable to multiple vehicles, should you sell your Charger.

The typical response to disabling MDS is due to the MDS drone with aftermarket exhaust systems. Others feel it provides a crisper response when excellerating. My reason to disabling MDS was due to my Comp Cam not being MDS friendly.

The canned tunes Diablo offers with their tuner will likely not affect your mpg's. I noticed absolutely no improvement mpg wise (Some LX owners claim improvement), but I've never had an issue with less mpg's myself. Although presently my mpg's have declined a little after doing some minor internal work, which is expected, especially when MDS has to be disabled.
