Default 2013 Charger R/T AWD

Looking at the 2013 Charger Owner's Manual, it states "The AWD indicator (on the dashboard) will illuminate when All Wheel Drive (AWD) is activated." I have not seen this light come on. Also in the manual, it states:
To maximize fuel economy, your AWD vehicle automatically defaults to rear-wheel drive (RWD) when road and environmental conditions are such that wheel slip is unlikely to occur. When specific road and environmental conditions require increased levels of road traction, the vehicle automatically shifts into AWD mode. Automatic AWD operation could be activated by outside temperature, wheel slip, or other predetermined conditions (there may be a slight delay for AWD engagement after a wheel slip condition occurs). AWD can also be manually selected by moving the shift lever into the AutoStick mode (+/-) or activating the windshield wipers for an extended period of time.
It rained the other day and I had the windshield wipers on for over an hour and the AWD indicator never came on. I also played with the AutoStick. I don't know if the light is out or maybe the car never goes into AWD. Can't tell. I still do not know if and when the Charger is in AWD vs. RWD. I don't know if this is working. Any help?

The AWD light will only comes on for a moment when the system is activated and when it comes on it is through the EVIC. There is no light that comes on and stays on for the driving mode that the vehicle is in at any given time. It only comes up when it changes and then only on the EVIC.

Drive mode, RWD or AWD, is displayed
momentarily in the Electronic Vehicle Information Center
(EVIC) in the gage area of the vehicle display when the
transmission is first shifted into gear, and if the drive
mode changes during vehicle operation.

I only had the car for about 5 weeks and I love it. In my opinion, it is both a luxury car and a sports car. The ride is smooth and quiet. But, when I want to let the horses out for a run, they are great. All of my ride to work are back roads. So my top speed is 40-45 with stoplights. So my gas mileage is around 16.5-17. For the couple turnpike drives I had so far, the upper speeds are great. I love the pickup when needed. I got a few extras when I purchased, like the sports package; strictly appearance (black honeycomb front, sport wheels, spoiler). It makes the appearance great. But you have to like the "attitude" look. From my posting, except from the EVIC I cannot tell when the car is in AWD or RWD. I am in south eastern PA where we get snow, so the AWD is important to me. The Hemi gets thirsty, but very enjoyable. I would definitely recommend this car.
