mustang vs charger??
I appreciate those stats BadStratRT.. though stock personal test runs are a shy bit better. 0-60 @ 5.34, & 104 in the quarter.
I think if the Dadge could loose the weight necessary to match up with that of the pony, Pony is going to get spanked regularly
The point I think our Polster is missing, is product quality and standard equipment. When the pony comes online with a european suspension, auto leveling, auto shift option, body and underbody ground effects and surface protection and the onboard ride comfort for 5, that matches that of the Charger. Its still a ford.. and will still take hind teet in the market; new issue and resale.
just my opinion

I thought the Charger was competition for a family car and the Challenger was competition for the Mustang.
http://www.allpar.com/cars/dodge/challenger.html
I test drove the Charger as competition against the following cars.
Car - Impression
Hyundai Azerus - Charger is more powerful, better trans, more roomy, worse warrenty, very similar price
BMW 5 Series - Charger is cheaper, more powerful, more fun
Kia Amanti - Charger is More powerful, looks better, not a Kia, worse warrenty, similar price
etc. etc. I haven't checked on Toyota's Avalon, or any lexus, etc. My wife and I are addicted to speed, so we are probably going to get the Charger for our trip/family/wife car.
The Challenger on the other hand does 0-60 in 4.5, quaterter in 13 flat, has a 6.1 standard and a 6-speed. That's a Mustang compeditor. The Charger is a powerful family sedan. Not a highschool - mid thirties play toy. The charger is pimp, the challenger/mustange is muscle. That's the easiest way to think of it.

Gas here - 91 octane - $3.09; 87 octane - $2.98 = EXPENSIVE!!!! Why are you so down on the Charger? By the way, I regularly get 24+ mph with mine - in town.

I no longer worry about the price of gas...like was stated before...I, too, need gas to move my cars, therefor I will buy it no matter the cost. Think smart don't be emo and bitch about the world, just go with it and be happy. I do raise an eyebrow as I finish pumping and the total comes up, because I remember when gas used to be less than a dollar (and that was expensive at the time).
I say pick your vehicle of choice then kick yourself if you don't like it....

What selfish comments made in this thread, Gas is Expensive period. Oil companies are making money hand over fist in a time where we are in a war, they should be jailed. The fact is that pretty much everyone needs gas and the oil companies know that. Not everyone drives 5 miles to college and could ride a bike, not everyone can carpool, its not about you. Its about people that drive 1000s of miles, Truckdrivers, delivery places, Fedex, UPS, even the postal service are all affected much worse than you paying 35 dollars every month for your gas. If you cant see the dramatic turn this economy could take if it continues to take this gouging, then you are selfish.
One more thing, if anyone has a comment "well overseas, they pay more than us" save it. Germany is the size of our California and they dont do the length of driving that is done over here.

Silvercoupe - I just don't know what to say to your last post. I remember when gas was less than .30 a gallon, so don't lecture me on what I should or should not think or say, or what I should or should not like. OK? Are we clear on that?
The original poster brought up the "gas" thing, not me or anyone else for that matter. So, now, hit us with the "over in Europe" diatribe. Everyone forgets that over "there", the don't pay for healthcare, among other things (there was a report just last night as well, about how the English are generally in better health that us here in the good 'ol USofA, too), they don't have income tax or other taxes. Hmmmm. Any idea where they get the funds to pay for all that? Oops! From the taxes that are included in the price of the gas they buy!
People not worrying about things - like the price of gas - is what will send this county to hell in a hand basket. Don't worry if you don't want to. The rest of us will cover your ....... for you.

Hmmm.. Do I have an opinion.. well of course I do.. I always have an opinion on everything.. where in the world did I put it.. I know I had it somewhere.. wait !! here it is..
New Mustang Suck !! I can spank them in stock setting and stomp'm with moderate mods. my unit is heavier.. better amenities.. more comfort.. 4 doors.. 4 wheels and wings!! Did I mention..?? The pony sucks !!
Fuel..? Fuel milage..? Economy?
I know I had an opinion here.. I must have had one at some point in time... Ohh I remember now.. When I bought a 350 horse.. 34K vehicle.. I said "T'hell with economic concerns like fuel milage.. the cost of fuel.. the cost of insurance.. I deserve this and its mine !" So I guess I don't have a viewpoint on the robber barons of foreigh oil markets.. If I did, would it do me a damn bit of good to gripe and moan??
Umm.. what was this thread about.. started some 8 months ago?? Ohh yea.. I remember
Mustangs suck.. and the Goat is dead.. Long live the Hemi..
Thats just my opinion.. I could be wrong.

Beside that, gas milage was the original poster's concern...so....with all due respect Dave, gas prices have been going up since it was first used and haven't looked back...all the while people bitching and complaining and it's still going up as we can see. It will continue to rise until there is another source of oil or something else is found to run machines. Need I worry? Yes and No. There are people that get paid more than I do to worry about IT and it's their main priority, honestly, I have other things to worry about but it is a concern, just not a priority because I have my process in which to conserve. I am by no means telling you how to feel nor think, that was a blanket statement expressing my opinion, so please don't take ill feelings toward it...as for this country being in hell in a hand basket, well, it's already there and it takes all of us to do that, not just a group of people...all of us.I also agree with Daytona RT, I chose my vehicle and now I live with it. Until I get tired of paying for gas up the wazoo, I will continue to drive i
t. I know my vehicle eats gas and I take full responsibility for it and I accept. And that is what I'm implying.

That was actually more towards the posts before yours because I hit reply before I saw your post Dave

This guy was told, by a high-up executive from one of the major oil companies (wouldn't say who or what company), to be careful - he's playing with fire, so to speak. Anyway, this executive said that the oil companies could lower the cost of gas and run him and other "ethanol" producers out of business. Now, what does that tell ya? I think people are outraged by how much profit the oil companies are raking in. We probably wouldn't mind it as much IF they were using that profit for something other than giving large bonuses (in the millions) to retiring execs, etc., and using it to research alternative fuels - more than they are now. This guy that Night Line spoke with is from India, and has put something like $50 million of his own money into the research and study of this problem.
High gas prices for profit - you bet your life! Gouging? More than likely. But, I have my R/T and I love it. It cost me $40 to fill 'er up last Friday. But I get more spg (smiles per gallon) than anything else I've ever had. I have a daily driver that I use for work, etc. The R/T is my "toy", and I play with it as much as I can.
So, I agree with you on most points. My point being that if people feel something isn't right, they should speak out - not take it lying down, again - so to speak. I think there is much more going on with the oil companies than most people would like to believe. I don't know if we'll ever get the whole story, but who knows what tomorrow brings.
Have a great week, John!
