My research on this when I had my 2.7l was the 3.5 will bolt up to the 2.7 trans, seeings they ran the same trans.
From what I found the 2.7l ecu will run the 3.5, you'll just have a CEL for a power steering sensor that the 3.5 doesn't have. IIRC
