Default Tire Presure Light

Hi

We bought a 2010 Dodge Charger last Saturday. The tire pressure light was on. Tonight we checked the pressure and it was 45-48 in all tires. The door calls for 30 psi. We lowered the psi and the light went out the came back on and was blinking this time. Then it went back to staying on constantly. Any ideas how to fix this or what it is?

Thanks!

A little background is in order. Did you buy from a dealer or private seller? How many miles? Are you sure the tires actually have tpms sensors? Are the wheels/tires OEM? What does the owners manual say about resetting the light?

I dont know most of that. We bought it from a dealer and it has 96000 miles on it. No idea if the wheels and tires are OEM or not and I am still searching through the owners manual.

I would be tempted to take it back to the dealer then. Hopefully you got a warranty. You might have aftermarket wheels and different size tires that are wreaking havoc on the system.

When I had an issue with TPMS on my 2011 I took it to Discount Tire and they have a scanner and checked all sensors for free. Found 1 that was not working and replaced it for about $40

If it's on solid pressure is out of range. If it's blinking there's an error/malfunction with a sensor(s).

Good to know.

Mine is blinking ('09 RAM 1500) right now, and the tires are all at 40 PSI.

The '09 doesn't distinguish between the tires, so now I need to figure out which sensor or stem is bad.

I'll check discount tire as srudenko mentioned.
