New to this and I need HELP!
I've never posted on a forum before, but I'm using this as my last resort. I have a 2005 Magnum. I bought it knowing it had a blown engine. I was going to have the engine fixed and surprise my Dad who has cancer with the car for his 65th birthday. So I pay $3000 to have the engine rebuilt, just to find out that the trans has issues too! Now all I want to do is sell the car because I already have $6500 invested in it and I just can't afford to sink anymore into it. I have a shop that will do the trans rebuild for $1800 with a 1 year 12k mile warranty. I'm trying to get $4500 for the car, but can't seem to get anybody to bite on it. Does anybody have any advice?? Sorry if I posted this where it doesn't belong, again I'm new to this LOL. Oh and the rebuilt engine only has 25 total miles on it and is still under warranty.
Kinda hard to sell an 11 year old car with a bad transmission for that much money. Buying any used car, especially with known problems is risky. You took a risk. Sorry it turned out to be a bad decision. If you can't afford to sink any more money into it and you can't get $4500 you're going to have to decide how low you are willing to go and cut your losses. Depending on whats actualy wrong with the transmission, you might try and get a second opinion on if it needs a rebuild or what. You could also probably put a used transmission in it for much cheaper. Good luck.
I'm willing to negotiate on the price. I want to at least get the $3000 I dumped in it for the new engine. I have gotten multiple opinions and I've been told the same thing every time. It will cost $1500 if I bought a used trans and them install it, and then I run the risk of there being an issue with the used trans.
