Default Newbie: '10 Cop Charger

I'm elated that this deal came through, as my newest car prior to this was a '99 300M...this is a cop car lovers dream come true!

It's a 2010 ex-Utah HP, white, 120k, still has Goodyear Ultra Grip tires, spotlight.

I want to do the usual check/change of fluids, brakes, get the trans serviced. I'd like to get the shifts firmed up.

Any advice, tips would be appreciated!

There is no owners manual, what octane gas do I run?

Go here and download an owners manual. As a side note, it usually states on the gas cap or the gas door what gas to use.

The owners manual was helpful, 89 preferred, 87 acceptable. Thanks.

Congrats on the new to you ride. When the Charger came into the game back in 06, it was quite the game changer for our LE folks. The stalwart Crown Vic was a great car for it's time, but the good old 250 HP 4.6L could not compete with the extra 120 HP from the Hemi.
Keep in mind that any vehicle made for fleet duty usually will run just fine on the lower octane grades.
No government entity is gonna pay the extra bucks for premium.

An interesting bit of trivia is that the North Carolina Highway Patrol runs the largest fleet of Hemi Chargers in the US. They love them!! I was told that for many years, they had never had a trans go belly up which speaks well for the toughness of that trans.

Hey Don,
Nice to hear from you! This is the perfect upgrade from my 300m.

I've been trying the 87 octane gas with good results so far, no pinging. With my altitude being 4500 ft, I think I'll be fine.

As soon as the Chargers came out, Utah made the switch from the CV.

I'm going to change my trans fluid and filter this weekend. I just don't know for sure if I have a 5 or 6 speed...so I got the parts for a 5 speed since that was all Autozone carried. My option printout said A580 so I think it's a 5.

I believe you are correct as the Hemi equipped Chargers still have the 5 speed through 2014.
It seems that the 8 speed came around for the 3.6 first in 2012.
For 2015, both the 6 and the 8 get the 8 speed, and the AWD option goes away for the civilian Hemi models. :0(

The trans fluid change went good. Used a tube to check fluid level before and after, so believe I got it back to original level. Thanks for the help guys.

Glad to hear that your trans service went well, and without drama.
As you may know, any car in LE service racks up a TON of idling hours along with what the odometer reads.
Unless they have changed it, the factory coolant fill should be good for 5 years OR 100K miles. I think they went to platinum plugs for LE service as well. If yours are original, and any where near 100K, they should be changed also.
