Default Going from a 215/65/17 to a 225/60/18

Hi there.
I've got a 2007 Dodge Charger which has the stock 17 steel rims. I have the opportunity to purchase a set of 18 inch alloy rims with 60 series tires on them. I know that I'd have to put in spacers but that's it for my knowledge on this. Would really appreciate some input as to whether I'm making a mistake and if not, what's the right way to proceed. Thanks...

Make sure the backspacing and offset match and you don't have to worry about spacers.

No the backspacing and offset is different between the original steel rims and the alloy rims that I'm wanting to put on. The alloy Rim is exactly an inch-and-a-half deeper than the steel rim. Just for the fun of it I took steel washers and put them over the studs and I had to build them out minimum of half an inch before the tire would clear the inner part of the fender. I had also better at that I wouldn't plan on driving the vehicle this way I only used the washers to give me an idea of what clearance I'm looking at or need. My question I guess right now is building the rim out anywhere between half of an inch to an inch normal and is it going to affect the ride of the car?
