Dodge ChargerThe Dodge Charger. The car that made its competitors shiver in the 60's is reborn in 2006 into a sleek sedan that can still send the competition home wimpering, the Dodge Charger.
I am a newbie here.
I have a Charger RT 2007 and would like to replace the stock rims and tires in order to go the widest rear tire possible. I love the hot rod look and old school muscle car. How wide can I go on the rear ? what tires/rims shall I buy ? Do I need to add spacers or other stuff ? Thank you folks.
Aftermarket rims only with the correct offset. Stock SRT size that year is 20x9 and a 275/40R20 fits nicely, however on R/T spindles you won't fit that up front. Aftermarket 20x10's with the correct offset to clear everything exist, then you can generally fit a 305; 315's tend to be a bit too wide for the inner fender liners and you get this:
The only fix at this point is to get narrower tires or space them out til they stick out past the fenders.
Wooa ! Short, straight and very informative answer. Thank you very much for your very valuable explanation Magnoom.
There's a guy out there who mounted the following on his RT from 2007:
Front - 20x9.5 Replica Hellcat Wheels (+15 offset).
275/40/20 Continental Extreme Contact Sport tires.
Rear - 20x10.5 Replica Hellcat Wheels (+25 offset).
305/35 20 MT ET Street SS Drag Radials.
Check out his vid please. It summaries your explanation I think.
