I am currently working on a 2011 Charger 5.7l for a friend as the other day the car started to shake really badly and the engine light came on. It had code p1414 "Cylinder Reactivation Control Performance." The car starts fine and idles fine but after driving anywhere from 1/2 mile to 2 miles it will start to drive rough again. It is mostly when stopped that it is very noticeable however there have been a couple times on hard acceleration that it will basically stop accelerating (presumably going into 4 cyl mode.)
I replaced the cylinder 4 MDS solenoid and it seemed to lessen the issue however it still persists. I've deleted the code a couple times and also hard reset the car via disconnecting the battery and touching the cables together as I had read somewhere that has fixed it for some people. I also swapped the ignition coil from 4 to 2 just to see if maybe it was a coil going bad and confusing it when trying to reactivate. I have also run tests on all 4 solenoids and injectors and they all seem to work so at this point I am unsure as to what to look to next whether it be ECM or the possibility of the MDS lifter having an issue. Which the car had new lifters and a cam replaced early this year because of the notorious problems.
