Muscle car sold, new Charger in the garage! NEW QUESTION ADDED!
Hey Mnboy,
Welcome to the Dodge family and you did real well with the RT.. Now as for your questions my advice is as follows:
Yes- to the Cat-back Borla
Yes- to the 63 series K&N
Add- TB spacer. Good for your low and midrange performance needs.
Questionable- room for the header system. I'd do some engineering measurment before the investment and wrench time.
No- to the superchip. I'd either look at the flashpaq or wait one more generation for a good programmer. The shift points and limiters on the stock model are what really have you thinkin you need more motor.
No- I wouldn't swap for the 6.1. You've made the investment in the 5.7 and within the year you can put your 6K into a single turbo or supercharger and get your 500 horse monster.
With the class 2 mods your projecting very close to the 400 and 389 fp torque. If you decide on the forced air, you can add to cam, comp piston and tweek the compression. Your motor will be done.
One more clue.. watch out for the trans. Skuttlebutt has it that the pressures over 400 horse can just trash the unit. I'm not sure what the boys claiming bulletproofin the autostick can do.. but I'd take a hard look at aftermarket standard 6 speeds by the time you get your mods ready to shove in.
Good luck old son..

Welcome! I'm rather new here myself. I bought an 06 R/T just before Thanksgiving. This is what I've done: MP cold air intake, Magnaflow full cat back exhaust; and JET Stage 2 chip (Got that before I found out about the Flashpag super chip, which I have ordered). It took a couple weeks before the chip really came into its own - I've heard that they need time to "get to know" the engine and its mods. I've considered the TB spacer, but wondered if they really work, and which one to get - HELP on this for me, too?
Anyway, with the above mentioned mods, my mpg went up significantly after the chip got "programmed" to my engine; the performance is really pretty good now (not that it wasn't before, but I'm an old guy too - 60 next January (my kids tell me that they hope I never grow up)), but am hoping for a bit more. I'd like to get close to 400hp before I'm done with just simple bolt on stuff. I think I'm getting pretty close now.
Good luck, and let us know how things work out.

From my limited understanding, the TB spacer with pattarn groves provides an air flow increase in vortex action that seems to mix fuel and make a more dense vapor for the engine to draw on. When your in the low & med end of your power curve, I'm told the air/fuel is much better saturated, w/ better torque and overall fuel milage gained.
With lots of us using our beast as every day drivers, putterin around town or the county, the midrange improvements sounds like its worth the $125> bucks for the unit & easy 10 minute bolt on. I haven't really asked the question of others, but if I had a real disatisfaction with my unit, it would be the power performance in 3rd gear and operating at 2500-3000 rpm. The TB Spacer has cleared much of that up.

Thanks, Daytona R/T. I found one for about $106, so I may just order it today. Anything to help, and you're right on about 3rd gear @ 2500-3000 rpm range. If the gear spacing from 2nd to 3rd were a little closer....... But over all, I REALLY love my R/T.

Appreciate the info. Yes, I think you're right in with a blower of some sort. I see Magna Charger has one out for about $5,400 and GS Motorsports has a centrifical blower for about the same money. I asked GS how loud the whine from the NOVI head is, but didn't get a reply -- I don't want to drive around whinning all the time! Also, the Magna Charger is a roots-type. I know headers sure woke up my 440 and I'm sure a good set would wake up the small-block Hemi too. I did put on the K&N and chipped it, but I think the chip is abit of hoowee. But I should run my G-Tech Pro with and without it before I complain. I'll let you know if it does anything... Thanks for your help!
Just for an update.. and sorry you ended up purchasing the chip and not the flashpaq.. The Flashpaq tuner has turned out to be a substantial improvement over the stage II chip. Though there is room for improvement.. I don't think there is any doubt the tuner is the modification of choice for air/fuel.. low/mid range BHP & Torque.. and throttle performance. The unit gives you control of speed and some Rev limiters and even some control on torque management systems. All that is a vast improvement over the questionable improvements when the stage II chip is installed.
Good luck
Good luck
