Default SIRIUS sound

Is anyone having issues w/ the sound qualityof their SIRIUS sat radio? I find myself constantly changing the levels on my radio and I have the sound group option. It is worse than FM.

I don't listen to mine enough, every now and the I flip to Nick or Disney for the kido but I don't pay that much attention to it. I'll jam on it going home and will report back.

I noticed the HIP HOP stations are better than the rock stations.

I am a big Howard Stern Fan for the morning drive but the way home I like to jam and my car stereo sound like it being played through the speakers of my work computer.

I had to crank it up to 30 to get any good sound out of it. Your right, I believe my thinkpad produces better sound than that. What gives with that? SERIUSly

My opinion is that the Sirius Satellite radio has audio quality somewhere between AM and FM. The music that is played sounds like it is VERY compressed using a third generation audio codec. Like listening to an MP3 file at only 64kbit. The FM radio sounds much better in comparison.

This is true for all of the the stations EXCEPT Howard 100. Howard 100 seems to get all of the bits missing from the other channels. His sound quality is great, I wish the other stations... ones that I would actually listen to, sounded so good.

As a result I only listen to 103, 104 105, the comedy channels, because who cares if the voices are overcompressed. It just burns me up though, that they are full of commercials. I thought paying for Sat Radio eliminated the commercials.

I am NOT renewing my subscription for any price. I would never accept Sirius in its current format. Maybe XM is better, but I doubt it.

Now on a more positive note, I love the factory GPS, 6 Disk radio. I find the controls easy to use, and the audio quality more than satisfactory. I love being able to load up a CD with 120 MP3 files and have six of them ready to go. My kids really like the rear seat entertainment system. They can listen to kids songs, while the wife and I listen to something a little less mind numbing...

Now if DCX could only update the GPS database disk, I would be EXTREMELY satisfied.
