Default My 2-cents and many thanks to all of you....

I really did mucho research on the purchase of a new car.... Of course, as a family man with two (2) young children I had to get something that was family oriented, you know, robust, 4-doors, etc...etc.... lack of better words, something practical without breaking the bank...

Well, thanks to all of you and because I have really utilized this site and it's wealth of information in my final decesion to chose and purchase a Dodge Charger with the Hemi.... I owe you guys and gals and thought the least I could do would be to share my expereince and opinions....

I took delivery on spanking new "Black" Dodge Charger R/t (only 4-miles showing) with the 5.7 HEMI, of course..... Simply the base model (no options) at a sticker of $30,250 with after negoiating at a saleprice of $27,345.... Just what the doctored ordered......

You get a very simplistic, but well equiped package.... I like it simple, most especially in a high performance rocket... The bonus is that you get that luxuary car ride, very little road noise with very litttle and or no body sway.... This car just simply absorbs all the road dimples and the ride is nothing short of stunning, again, look at the price!!!!

Before taking delivery I had already made my go-man-go plan and pre-ordered the goodies that would be implemented to wake this bad girl up... Needless to say, let there be no mistake, the stock 5.7 tune is nothing to sneeze at because this car does produce mucho power even as stocker....

Regardless, I babied the car for the first 250 miles..... Did an oil change and reset the PCM along with recalibrating the throttle response, you know, the key off, push the pedal to the floor, turn the key to the on position, wait 10-15 seconds, turn the key to the off position and release the pedal....

Starting at the 251 mile mark I really starting driving the car hard, rather, let's say, driving the car aggressively while gently banging through the gears.... You know, let's start pushing her, but not too hard yet....

Again, at the 500 mile mark I did another oil change, balanced the tires and installed the pre-planned go goodies..... Essentially an afternoon of some enjoyable work..... The goodies and the only goodies are as follows....

- K&N CAI Package (chose this system only because of it's thermally efficient properties as compared to the competitors)
- SuperChip FlashPac Tune (chose this system only because of it's flexibilty and the availability of future/ongoing updates)
- Increaed the ID of several hoses, you know crank case vent, etc...etc.... let's breath guys....

Starting at the 501 mile mark, I now drive this car like I stole it.... It simply screams and that HEMI just continually builds power that you can literally feel, a completely different car from a performance standpoint while still maintaining that luxuary car ride, no noise until you jump down on it..... When you jump down on this woke up Charger it literally sounds like a late 60's muscle car.... It is a muscle car, just the modern version.....

I can honestly say that an unexpectly passenger not only gets a little concerned with the fact that this car pulls very hard, but the WOT noise literally scares the s**t out of them.... They do expereince a serious rush and cannot beleive that this well behave luxuary ride vehicle becomes a wild animal at WOT and just eats up the pavement while placing you well back in the seat.....

After the goodies were installed and several recalibration procedures were performed for the critical systems many test runs were made, obviously, many tweaks were made after each run.... This took up most of the evening.... I do beleive that the critical system(s) recalibration procedures are a must on a regular basis..... "Hal" just thinks he got you by the short hairs!!!!

Guys, the Superchip select higher shift point (6250) option just simply does not work, the rev limiter kicks in literally robbing you of performance.. I have spoke with SuperChip several times and they are aware of the situation and I am certain that an update will be available sometime in the short to mid future.... My expereince with these guys so far has been nothing short of excellent....

Regardless....

I have found that the manual kick paddle auto shift is the hot ticket.... the hold gear at the available gear, again, simply just does not work, a direct relationship to the rev limter/6250 shift point issue.....

All other settings were kept at the High Perfomance Tune Level.... I run at least 91 octance and put a bottle of STP Octane booster in every tank.... It is my opinion that this is critical due to the significant timing advance with the High Performance tune.....

ESC..... WoW!!! You want all show and no go, then at the push of a button disengage the system.... It will literally burn the tires off eventually turning you sideways with very little forward momentum..... Definite performance robber....

ESC..... WoW!!! You want all go with very little show, then keep the system engaged..... This baby hooks up big time placing all that power/tourge to the ground with very little tire spin, a slight chirp then it is rocket sled time.... You know that feeling you get in the middle of your stomach with a car that pulls hard.... This setup does exactly that..... What a rush!! I love it!!!

Yes, the Vettes and Mustangs do offer more performance, but I have gladly traded the difference for the luxuary ride.... Have you driven in one of these newer mentioned cars.... The ride just simply sucks, hearing and feeling every little pebble on the road, a Vette and/or Mustang ride just isn't on the mark, you know.....

In closing I will say once again, thanks to all of you.... I live in Houston and when the sun goes down and the ambient outdoor tempertues start to cool, this Black Charger really wakes up and is a seriously fast car..... The price, four (4) doors, luxuary ride, the the pedal with instant WOT at the push of your right foot just equals [ul][*] [*] [*]
[/ul]real value.... Dodge has really created a great product for us old school guys that participated in the 60's muscle car days......

Thanks
