Hubby and I have both the top banana and torred daytonas! The torred is an awesome color. Spoke to the dealer the other day and Lime Green is the next color, followed by Plum Crazy.
Also, looking to put a superchip in my TB, which one do you have?

I have the FlashPaq SuperChip Controller. I got a update VIA computer last week and I am amazed. I was coming on to highway and I let it go! When the TB shifted into 2nd gear the wheels actually squealed. Couldn't believe it!!!!!!!!!!! I think buying a FlashPaq SuperChip Controller is a wise investment if you are looking for performance. It makes the difference between night and day.

Rumor has it that the Daytona's are having the same problem they had in 1969, they aren't selling as well as expected. That is the reason they dropped the number from 4000 to 2000, or so i heard. Anyways, just found this site, glad to be here.
Welcome to the site newbies.
Orv, certainly one of the reasons the Chargers were dropped by Dodge was the fact they were'nt selling -- but the reasons were several, including, gas prices, insurance, and two doors. The muscle car rage took a big nose dive in 1974 when the gas prices hit $1. And those loveable insurance companies. I know, we did it to ourselves they say. One big reason was two doors. The only successful domestic two door is the Ford Mustang. I had a 71 Ply GTX 440 4 speed car and sold it in January for a Mango Daytona. I went from two doors to four and love every minute of it. By the way, the car was factory 1971 Tor-Red. I parked my new Daytona next to the current "Tor-Red" and wasn't overly excited. If you like red the car is red. But the factory chip in my 1971 dealer handout is much, much oranger. Not as orange as Vitamin C, not as red as Rally Red, but in between. The new Tor-Red is tooooo red for me.
One thing about having these cars is clear -- you have to somewhat behave. Not too many colors like these running around and you can't get away with anything!
Enjoy the car and welcome to the forum Orv.
PS = Don't mind me, it's just my two cents worth...

In 1969 the Regular Chargers were selling very well, it was said the many dealers couldn't sell the origanal Daytona's because of the "ugly wing and pointed nose" so they would remove them and sold them as regular chargers. As far as post 1971, insurence, gas prices and saftey was a major reason for the fall of the mighty muscle cars.
