Default Newbie Wheel/Tire Question (R/T)

I'm sure someone here can save me some trouble. I'll be shopping for wheels/tires next week. The standard RT wheel/tire combo appears to be 18 x 7.5 with 225/60's. I would like to go with at least an 8" rim. Will a 255 (of any aspect ratio) fit? I do not plan on lowering the car. If I were to choose a combo that increase overall diameter, are there any speedometer re-programming issues?

Thanks much.

There will be no speedometer issues if you stay with 18" tires.

In regards to your tire issue you can get a FlashPaq SuperChip Controller. You can set this to any size tire and have the right speedometer readings. The way you set it to measure from the bottom of the tire to the top and then enter it. I think this would be a wise investment not only for this but performance as well. I really like mine. I have had it for about 3 weeks and I have really noticed the improvement in HP and torque. You can update the tuner VIA internet. Kind of expensive but I can tell you it is worth the expense. Hope this helps.

SDCharger,
Whip over to TireRack.com and check out their wealth of information.

I wasn't sure why you'd want to spend money only to go 1/2" bigger in wheel width?

SRT models run a 9" rim and use a 10" wide 255/45 rear tire, but on a 20" rim, which calculates to a 29.04" tire. Odd, but they use a 245/45 front which equals 28.68" height. My Daytona runs a 7.5" rim, just like yours, but uses a 235/55 tire on its 18" rim and is 28.18" tall. Just for info.

Good luck!

I checked my tire size last night and found at sometime I had programed a smaller size w/SC. That defiantly improved my data logging times This evening I’m going to do a detailed measurement and set it correctly.
