Results from meeting at the dealership
Marty, yeah, could be. I suppose I should have driven the car before I bought it, but I didn't - I picked it out off the lot among 3 - a red, silver, and my steel silver. Hoefully, they'll treat me good, but time will tell. I keep waiting for dodgedlr to chime in, but guess he's busy. I haven't "bounced" the front or rear yet. Thought I'd wait until I go to the dealership again so I can compare. Thanks for the encouragement.

I would be very concerned about the clunks and extreme amount of steering play. Until I got used to it, mine seemed a little twitchy it was so responsive. I had similar symptoms (clunks and free play) in my truck and finally jacked it up and found that one of the u-bolts holding the lower A-frame had snapped! I was extremely lucky that it was the rear one. If it had been the front one, I would have made the 5 o-clock news. Granted the truck is 38 years old but a brand new car should not clunk or have that much play. Try turning the wheel with the engine off. There should be virtually no play. If there is, leave the car at the dealer until they find what has broken or come loose.
