Default Tried to "bounce" the front end

Well, I finally tried to "bounce" the front end to see how the shocks/struts are working. I literally, almost, could not get it to bounce! It would not move at all by trying to push down on the front center near the hood. I moved to the fenders, and got it to move a bit, but, IMO, not nearly like it probably should be. What do the rest of yours act like?

dave

PS: OK, went back out and tried it again. By putting my hands under the top of the grill so I could lift up, I
could get it to bounce. If I simply tried to push down on the front end above the grill, I could get it to move about an inch or so, but then the plastic would start to bend. Does this all sound right?

Well, Bud. We're talking about a 2 ton car, so it shouldn't bounce easily.
I'm 200 lbs and by putting my hands on the bumper under each side of the grill, I can squeeze the R/T down 2-3 inches with just my body weight. Sounds and feels solid.
I still think there was damage to your R/T in transit between Brampton and your dealership. Have you tried taking the car to another Dodge dealership and have them look at it?

Guess I'll have to wait until I can compare it to another. Im about 180 pounds, and I could not push mine down at all without kind of "leaning" into it. My body weight alone would not budge it. Gee, cars have come along way since my dad's 64 Chrysler

Dave, I too can't push my Daytona down hardly at all. All that new suspension set up is very good. My old GTX was stiff in the rear too with 9 leaf springs on the right rear and 7 on the left rear -- she would walk all over. These new models are coil over shocks and not leaf springs I know, but anyway, my Daytona won't budge either...

Hey Marty, I guess I could if I stood on the fender and jumped up and down! LOL. When I have tried, the body creeks and sounds like I should just leave it alone... I have never been able to get it to rebound even once, no kidding, and the car is very good on curves and bumps. No, I'm not headed to the garage with my socks on... LOL.

One thing you could check Dave. Happened to me on my Scooby, where the back was extremely hard and jumping over potholes unsettled the car enormously and no setting on the dumpers changed anything. I looked and checked everything but couldn't see a problem. Then the MOT people find out that the spring snapped (on both sides!!!), but it wasn't visible as there was some plastic casing and it snapped right at the top of the spring. Well, that was enough to put the springs out of order. I too could have a BBQ party on the boot and the car would barely move, so have a look on those springs
Expensive repair for me as it wasn't under warranty, but maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan what a beauty in handling after

Dave, I can't toss mine in for comparison with the KWs, its very stiff I can barely budge it with my 200+ lbs. That's interesting insight from Velryba about the springs breaking.

I'm a bit more concerned about that steering travel. Will be waiting w/baited breath to see what is found once it's up on a lift and looked at.

Sorry you have to pour your time into this and hope you find a quick resolve.
