Can't attest to the tire size/handling but the sways will help hold the tail to the ground through the turns. It put a stop to the body roll.
If you have a floor jack and jack stands this is a fairly easy mod and well worth it. Also for those that want to keep the stock look, the sways are not detectable unless you really know what to look for.

We do have 20's it does handle better than a similar charger with stock tires and wheels but i think the tires are what helped. They are the Nittos, It was dealer prepped wen we bought it so can't compare with my car.
440nix,
The stock Daytona model tire is only 1/2" narrower than a stock SRT8 tire. My footprint is 9.5" where the SRT8 is 10". My diameter is 18" where the SRT8 is 20".
To me, you are not loosing much staying with the stock tire, unless you just want more for looks. Sure, those 20" really look cool -- but at $2,500 or so to spend just for looks... Ok, I digress. Lots of guys like the 20 or 22 looks. But just in performance, you don't give up much.
Again, someone is going to have to post some G force times to prove to me their tires are better than my stock Michelins. Oh, sure, you have special use tires (soft compound, drag slicks) etc, but for what a general purpose tire is going to be, the stock Michelins are actually pretty good.
I'd first go to www.tirerack.com and inspect all the tires for traction, for your cause. Then once, decided on a tire, maybe it comes in a size to fit your 18x7.5 rim, so you don't have to change rims.
Personally, I think the dealer is just yappen. You know, bla-bla-bla. If the 425 HP SRT8 has only 1/2" wider tires -- I don't need to put wider tires on my 350 HP...
