Dave,

Yeah, nothing is the sound of a big carb vacuum sound when she's wide open. The last movie I remember hearing it was in Terminator -- just as Arnold crashes the Olds Toronado into the wall, and several squad cars start heading towards him, you can hear the four barrels open up -- ah... replay...replay...replay...

Blackie, yeah, me too wish we had some control over the timing... but maybe that's why mine runs so well, since I can't screw it up!

3796, THANK YOU. I appreciate your comment. By the way... NICE photo! It has artistry about it...

One of the first things I'm gonna do when I can drive my truck again is to to open it up an let the 4 bbl moan. Real chickenskin kind of noise. I always wondered what a 4-weber setup on a small block would sound like. I loved the banshee scream of the carbureted Lambo Countach in Cannonball Run - 12 barrels sucking air.

Not that I don't enjoy my Charger but some sounds bring back good memories.

...I have a strange feeling the dealer is going to come up with a NO ISSUE respone since the car is now a lot louder with the exhaust mods I did.

It is a lot harder to hear but I can hear it since I know what I am listening for.
I got this type response when I took my O3 RAM into the dealership (fourth time) for a subtle miss. It was frustrating when the service manager came out to talk to me about it and I was initially addressed as the “owner of the RAM w/a loud exhaustâ€. How demeaning, I promptly repeated what he said and then introduced myself by name and pointed it out on the service order in his hand.

Anyhew, that set the tone for the RAMs last visit to the dealership and the miss was never properly fixed which lead to my purchasing the Charger.

The RAMs exhaust setup was sweet: Flowmaster 50’s w/side exit prior to rear tires. I should have put 40’s on it and showed them the meaning of loud

Hang tough with them on this issue, good luck!

I just ran my TB Daytona at the track for Midnight Mayhem and managed to put 1/4 tank of 100Oct mixed w/ 1/4 tank of 91 Oct, and I must say that my knocking and pinging definitely disappeared. I really am convinced that this is a MTNBE issue ( spelled right?) as the additives and oxygenated gas sold in certain stated + high temperatures really seems to be it. I had superchips send me a custom tune for this which reduced the pinging, but as the night got cooler and adding the racing fuel completely negated the pinging. And the 100 Oct was 4.99/gallon, still much cheaper than a gallon of Starbucks.....

Hi Blackie,

A lot of racers here in MN-ND area are running 105 octane E85. HOWEVER, it has been only used in the carbureted cars where they can tweek timing and jet up in the carburetor. SO FAR, I have not heard any adjustment for our fuel injected newer cars...

So why I brought it up I have no idea, since we can't use it [&:], but it would be cool if it was just a change for the chip or programmer to get it to run on that!!

It is going in on Thurs for her 1st oil change. I have ben running 89 octane and the knocking and pinging has diminished. I only hear it when it is really hot out.

I plan on testing the car w/ the mechanic next to me so he/she can hear it. This Dodge dealer is only 4 miles from my house so it is convienant but basically they know jack.
