Default UPGRADING THE FUEL INJECTORS

HI THERE EVERYONE IVE BEEN WONDERING THE FUEL INJECTORS ON THE 5.7 L HEMI PRODUCE 26 LBS OF PRESSURE AND THE INJECTORS ON THE 6.1L ARE 30 LBS GIVING ENGINE MORE FUEL =MORE HP IM TOLD THE INJECTORS ARE DIRECT REPLACEMENTS NO MODS NECCESARY ANY IDEAS IF THIS WOULD WORK AND WORK WELL ?

It'll take a while for the car adapts as best it can to them, but I don't think it will totally adapt. At WOT the stock fuel maps will probably flood the the engine when it get mid way through the RPM range and continue to flood all the way to the top. When it's hammered there will be a loss of power because the AF mix is too rich.

None taken.

I think the fuel rail pressure is around 55 or 58 <= I got that number tucked away somewhere. Anyhew, the rail pressure should be fine it’s those darn fuel maps and HAL that will cause the heart burn. Hopefully the custom boys can pull the magic HAL program from their hat.

well with the superchip and jet chip and the ramair and cai wouldnt that help compensate ? i mean more air going in fuel hasnt increased so your still having the same amount of fuel going in ? so isnt the basic principle for horse power is air fuel ignition .air is increased the ignition is increased with the the jetchip sc etc etc etc the only thing that didnt increase is fuel propably the biggest component so by increasing the fuel hp should go up ,i think the problem would be if you didnt increase air and program and did just the injectors ,again just and opinion ?

HAL would try and compensate for the additional air. I think what Mango is saying is that it wouldn't be able to completely compensate. Everything would be coming in at completely different rates than HAL was designed to handle. Still. We need to find a HAL Terminator!

Daves on board. Yes definitely more fuel but how you pumping in more air, we’re not talking boosting here. HAL may compensate for 25% of what you’re adding but once it starts to hit the real power band (3.5-6K) it will be way too rich, it will be a band without power.

HAL will compensate for the new injectors by the information provided from the multiple sensors it uses to measure the stoichiometry (richness) and knocking under varying loads. The 6.1 injectors would work fine in a 5.7 engine. The real issue--Do you need them? Most likely not. Unless you are forcing air into your engine (via SC or turbo,) the 5.7 injectors allow a great deal of fuel to the combustion chambers. Unless you are certain that you are running lean, this replacement of injectors would be a waste of money. Doing stoichiometry testing to determine your air to fuel ratio is not too difficult with the right devices. It still seems unnecessary to most of the slightly modded engines out there.

There is one advantage on some higher flowing injectors. (AND I AM NOT SAYING WITH ANY CERTAINTY THAT THIS IS THE CASE HERE.) An injector that is pegged open less should last longer. It is the frequency and the amplitude (along with contaminants) that destroy injectors. If your injectors are being pushed to their limits, they will have a much shorter life. To determine the theoretical life difference, we would need to do a flow test on several individual units of the two injector styles. Flow rate many times is even more important than pressure on large piston engines. The size of the orifice and pintle weight are crucial to the longetivity of the units.

Ok, if I'm reading this correctly: if 5.7 is running in lean put 6.1 injectors in the it will be richer. Sounds like we agree that the 6.1 injectors will richen the A/F mix.

I agree all the sensors (knockers and all) will compensate, but not 100%. I also agree w/you don't do it "Unless you are certain that you are running lean", it will run richer, too rich.
