ROFL... I've seen where some have paid around 900 for the install, which sounds right. An experienced mechanic would take around 7-8 hours, depending on their hourly rate that put’s it around 900-1000.

I hit one dealer early this morning and they didn't have any valve spring keepers, I have a line on another dealer that has them. Will leave soon to get them.

All right she’s running now and just one word describes the difference… Damn! It feels like a bigger jump in HP than the headers.

I made a big mistake yesterday when I was putting the push rods in. I wasn’t paying attention and thought I was putting the first exhaust pushrod in the right hole, you know those things are slick and then coat them w/oil. Anyhew it kept going into this hole I was expecting to feel a lifter at any time and then it slipped... then a clink, my heart sunk and one of those feelings of OH $HIT! I had put it into the oil drain hole in the head.

After thinking about the issue for a while I drained and pulled the oil pan. I put a small loop in the end of a coat hanger. Threaded the pointed end up through the drain hole. Grabbed the coat hanger up top with vise grips and was able to pull the rod out. Whew, tragedy adverted.

I buttoned her up last night. After taking the kid to the fair I added oil and coolant and fired her up. It took a while for oil to circulate where it should. Idle is dropping a little at times, almost thought it would stall a few times but it hasn’t. The PCM and HAL are working things out with the new hardware.

I took the kido to gymnastics and hit it coming home. Took it up to 5500 RPM in first and it was solid and strong, a very strong pull. Low end actually got more HP, and it’s impressive.

I’m going to wait for the kid to go to sleep and then go out to find an open road and pull a few runs. I'll check in later.

LOL yep TB3767, ouch. I turned an 8 hr job into a 16 hr job, that's what I get for taking my time and thinking about it too much. That clink sound of the rod falling added a couple more grey hairs and shaved a few years off my lifespan.

Sorry Dave, my girlfriend required my time after the kid went to bed at times too many things require my attention. The car ran strong into work this morning, no leaks and it shimmies a bit when at a stop in gear. I wish I could use superchips to bump the idle up to 700 which would probably get rid of the slight shimmy when at a stop. I believe the computer is still working things out so it may smooth out given time.

<edit> BTW TB3767 someone nominated you for COTM

When you say "shimmy", do you mean she's got a lope to her?

When the RPM drops to idle (600 RPM) it slowly jumps both up and down by 50 to 100 RPM. If I tap a little on the gas it settles back. It may be a lope and it's I'm not in tune w/it yet, I didn't expect the RPM to vary, is that normal for a lope?

<edit> I think it settling in. On the way home in stop-n-go the idle was at 550 and there is a slight lope shimmy, no surging.

RPM might vary a little, but usually a lope just kind of sounds like its running "rough". Kind of rumpity, rumpity, rump, rump
