2006 Charger Paint
I purchased a 2006 Charger SXT. It is black with heavy metalflake.
The problem I have is the paint on the front and rear bumpers do not match the rest of the car.
There is not even half as much metalflake in the bumpers than the rest of the car.
It is a beautiful paint job, but I didn't want a two-tone.
The dealership, Ferman Dodge of Plant City, tells me it is suppose to be that way.
They claim it is because the bumpers are plastic.
All the other Chargers on their lot look like that.
I pointed out that the SRT-10 truck out front isn't two-tone and it has a plastic front.
Has anyone else had this problem, or is the Charger a two-tone?
Thanks,
Seahawk

I have an 06 Charger R/T that is Midnight Blue as you may have seen it is a very dark blue with a little more metal flake then the black but my bumper matches perfectly with the rest of the car.
I dont know how much this actually helps since its not the exact color but maybe someone with a black one will chime in.
P.S. I understand you suspicions and also incourage you to find out more since its a possibility that it could have bin repainted.???????
OR it could be a lil oxidized from the sun.the plastic parts on black cars do tend to get be a little more sensitive to oxidation then the metal parts.

my 05 seabring cont. has the same problem. They might be right on the plastic, also your bumpers were not painted while they were on the car. so the spray direction is different and with that color paint the flake probley layed down in a different direction. Its the same color but the light reflects the color differently so you get a darker shadow on the bumpers.
I HAD A 2005 DODGE RAM 1500 WITH A SIMILAR PROBLEM. THE DOOR AND THE FRONT GRILL WHERE SHADOWED AND THE PAINTED JUST DIDNT MATCH. ALMOST LOOKED LIKE THEY WHERE REPAINTED ONCE BEFORE. THE CAR WAS BRAND NEW WITH 2 MILES WHEN I GOT IT BUT THEY SAID IT COULD OF BEEN REPAINTED BY THE PORTERS IF IT WAS HIT IN SHIPPING. I MADE THE DEALER REPAINT MINE. I HAVE BOUGHT A LOT OF CARS FROM MY DEALER AND THEY KNOW THEY HAD TO MAKE ME HAPPY. LOOKS GREAT KNOW. I SURE THATS NOT WHAT HAPPIEND TO YOURS BUT JUST THOUGHT I WOULD SHARE MY STORE. I AGREE WITH BOBLOM BECAUSE THERE PLASTIC AND THERE NOT PAINTED AT THE SAME TIME. THANKS.
Update...
I just happen to see a black Charger in the parking lot at lunch.
Guess what.... The paint on the bumpers had lots of metal flake in them.
I guess I'm going to have to check some of the other dealers around town
and take pictures.
I understand plastic and metal "can" appear different, but with the paint technology
we have today, it shouldn't.
I remember Pintos in the 70s having this problem. I didn't buy a Pinto, I bought a Charger.
Thanks to all who replied, I appreciate all the advise.
I'll post when I get the answer.
Hopefully I can find someone at Dodge who cares about the product they put out.
This is my first Dodge, and so far I haven't been exactly impressed.
Maybe it is just the lousy dealership I purchased from?
(Ferman Dodge of Plant City)
I've been running Corvettes and I needed something to carry the Grandkid(s) in.
Don't get me wrong, the Charger is a great car and yes I had problems with my Corvettes.
I just expect the paint to match on a vehicle costing over $25k.

I have a Silver Steel Charger and if I look at it at different angles it seems the colors are all different, but on a cloudy day it looks more gray almost than silver.Overall I love the color and I usually HATE silver.
