200 rpm more isn't much of an improvement. I would think closing to a 3000 - 3200 stall would be better, if the stock one is indeed only 2400. Time will tell. It would help, but I would have to question if the $$$$$ and time spent changing it out is worth it. Also, with you mods, it will raise the stall as well. So perhaps it will be of benefit. But 200 over stock, with a stock engine, IMO, isn't going to do much.

From the MoparSuperCenter web site:

APS Performance 2600 Stall Converter

New for the 5.7L and 6.1L LX Bodies and Grand Cherokee SRT-8. The APS Torque Converter is very streetable as it relies on a different impeller to not just spacing the members further apart to get additional stall like so many rely on. We also use a Hardened Input Shaft Spline Insert, upgraded friction from paper (OEM) to Kevlar or Solid Carbon-Fiber depending on stall, as well as machine the slight taper off the apply surface for a firmer lock up...resulting in increased top end efficiency. We also increase torque multiplication over the stock unit, meaning we multiply the amount of Torque the unit will put to the back tires delivering EXCITING performance. This is done by using a higher stall stator and a negative raked impeller...these are not just a simple, modified, factory converter with loose tolerances to give you a higher stall effect. These factors all add up to give you the APS EDGE! Getting the EDGE in performance while maintaining efficiency for fuel economy and peppy around town driving. We increase the efficiency of the torque converter over the stock unit by a full 6% (stock rating is approximately 14% parasitic loss just from the converter). This means that you don't get that "spongy" feeling under light acceleration found in other high-stall converters. Our converters can easily handle horsepower ratings of 600+!

Features of the APS Converter:

American Made Ticker Taped Torrington Style Roller Bearings .
Fully Brazed Impeller and Turbine Fins .
Input Splines are Heat Treated Chrome Moly 4130 .
Drive Hub is Heat Treated Chrome Moly 4130 .
Full High Carbon Clutch with Flat Apply Surface for comfortable apply but 300%+ Gripping power over the OE Paper clutch .
Fully Rollerized .
Wider Material then stock .
Thicker High Carbon OD .070 Clutch .should outlast the vehicle.
Anti-Ballooning Measures taken
Stealth Finish for “Completely Stock Appearanceâ€
Upgraded Stator rather then for massive additional torque at launch!
Typically 50~75 + Lb feet torque additional at 0-mph for most applications .
2 year racing warranty.
600+ HP capacity .

Available in 2600 Stall .This product has a core charge of 100.00. The core charge will be refuned to you once we have received the core.

I feel the same way about ya man! jk

Are your boys going to install it or are your going to do it? If possible keep tabs on how they crack the rear open, there's a special tool for that and I'm wondering what that's all about

I hoping that you'll be presently surprised with launches after it’s installed. A little more stall should get you off the line better, it doesn’t take much.

Good luck on the install!

Yep, definitly keep an eye on how things are done. I'm guessing that because of the mods you've done, it's actually going to stall a bit higher, which, IMO, would be great. Let us know cause "inquiring minds want to know".

Sorry for the late question just got back from 15 days in vegas. Anyway when a street pup in the late 70's I installed a B&M converter and it tore up my turbo 400. yes the increass in stall was nice for hole shots. but what about heat build up in the trans clutches from the higher stall speed. Next thing will be reverse valve bodies and line lock. The price we pay to play. good luck and may god be with us.
