Default lifter tap?

I dont know if im haveing a lifter tap on my RT. but at idle it sounds like a singer sewing machine. I have 5000 hard miles. the dealer installed cat backs I forgot the difference in an exhause tap or a vale tap. Is one supose to get faster when you rev the engine? aslo since I put 5000 on my cai my car bog's when its cold and in the rain. any one in a wet state use a sock that iron horse sells for the rain.

Ah, you've got the hemi tick.

Some of these cars never get it others have it from the get go. I didn't have it until I installed the new cam.

Now onto the reason for this tick. No definite source has been identified that I'm aware of. Some say lifters, some say exhaust valve guides. Everyone has their own opinion.

The sewing machine sound should get faster w/revs. I wouldn't be alarmed unless it gets progressively louder.

Mango:

That's good to know -- I thought I was being paranoid about this brand new engine that sounded like my 455 (i.e. somewhat mechanical).

Isn't that always the case -- if you ask a question, odds are there are a lot of other people wondering the same thing?

My old boss would have fixed it by turning up the radio....

The Hemi Tick question does come up a lot,it's good to know some things don't change

It's also a hoot to see how some things get fixed

well im glad to hear its normal I thought I was being hard on the old girl. Im still dealing with rain, anyone heard of the rain sock that goes over the air cleaner to keep it dry. also many guys claim these chargers love cold weather, in NJ its starting to get in the mid 20's in the early morn. Im still dealing with it boging down untill shes warmed up. But its not the old quadrajet bog of the 70's. its like Ive hit a dead spot. I'll go pull out and zip no gas no movement she then sounds like its about to glup a WAD of air and bang shes off like a cat and the back tires are spinning.
