I'm getting an RT with Nav. I want to add in an aftermarket XM radio system, but would prefer not to use the one that tranmits over the FM radio. Is it possible to add an auxiliary unit to the nav/sound system in the RT?

 

I am not sure. I can say that the Sirius boxis remote to the radio, and has a plug. It looks as though it would be easy enough to install. The only problem that I see is that the Sirius unit is integrated with the display on the speedometer, showing channel number, and station name. Would an XM box do that?
After owning the Sirius system for a year, I chose NOT to renew the subscription. The channels thatI listened to all had commercials, and more of them then terrestrial radio. I am NOT PAYING FOR COMMERCIAL SATELLITE RADIO. However should they ever choose to remove the commercials I would be the first to sign up, despite the poor audio quality.

What I would REALLY be interested in would be to swap the Sirius box for an HD radio box. I would pay a couple of hundred for that.

 

I just bought mine w/Nav but I am leaving it with Sirius. I have been an XM customer for 5 years, and at first found it hard to switch over...and was looking at alternatives..but, Sirius is free for the year, plus, if I was to get an XM unit, the Sirius antenna on the roof would be useless.....no need to have 2 antennas.....I decided to keep it stock with Sirius.....My 2005 Ford Thunderbird (traded for Charger) came with optional Sirius, but I did not get it....as Terk had a XM controller box that worked with my factory radio...plugging directly where the Ford Sirius adaptor would go.....so it was a direct wire...no FM crap... what was nice was it kept the stock look, and displayed the song name and artist in the small radio display....but, sometimes it did not display everything....aftermarket plug-ins to factory radios are OK...but not perfect for sure...
