Default EVERYTING PERFECT -- even in SNOW

Hi all,
It’s been a coon’s-age since I last posted, and part of the reason is that my car (2006 Daytona Top Banana #0102 –the kids named it “Apollo” – go figure) has been PERFECT! No problems anywhere! I’ve had the car since May2006 and have just turned 24,000 miles on the car!

Recently the Canaan Mountains (Connecticut) had it’s first snowfall (3inches). This winter has been extremely dry and warm for us. But the car was flawless in negotiating the roads! Of course I have dedicated snow tires (Pirelli SottoZero), and you do need to disengage the ESP when trying to climb the 12-degree incline that is the road I live on. If you lease ESP active, then you just grind to a halt…sometimes you need wheel spin to keep your momentum moving forward!

Anyway, Just a quick note to let you’ll know that I have no problems to report, and that I couldn’t be happier having traded my 2001 BMW 330xi for this car!

KEEP FLYING LOW AND FAST!
Glenn

Man, I wish I could say that -- a sudden snow/ice storm with only about 3 inches while I was at work and I was taking my life into my own hands. No snow tires or extra weight, plus some unplowed grades equals: I'm parking in the field (I didn't want to park on the road and get tagged). BTW, no warning from the weatherman either.

However, the big culprits here were the steep inclines. The car actually did pretty well on the Michelins on a flat surface. The car is already heavy, and pretty responsive. Once you're stuck on the ice, the ESP won't help anyway -- but it did give me a sense of security otherwise (perhaps a false one, but I made it).

We don't get but two or three snow events like that a year, and I knew what I was getting with the RWD torque machine. This was an isolated incident (getting stranded) because nobody drives here if it snows anyway.

So, I guess I'll keep it....
