Unfortunately I won't make it to this event, though I remember hearing about it from my childhood. I grew up north of Tulsa, and my dad worked for Parish & Clark, one of the MOPAR dealers in Tulsa back then. He was not eligible to enter the contest because of that. If you're not familiar with it, the deal was that back in 1957, the 50th anniversary of the great state of OKLAHOMA, they buried this 57 Plymouth, and who ever's guess of the population of Tulsa in 2007 was the closest gets the car. (At least I think it was the pop of Tulsa, unless it was of all of Oklahoma, but as I recall it was of Tulsa.)
My Dad and my brothers have often wondered over the years if the car would be remembered when 2007 rolled around. Always seemed way off in the distant future, but I guess that makes me an old something-or-other.
I was back there visiting last month, and they say that they have checked it out a bit, and believe the car is in good shape.

Preliminarily, it appears that water did get into the vault. There was two feet of water in the bottom when they slid the lid off. This '57 Belvederemay not be in the greatest shape when they unwrap it tomorrow.

From what I have seen on the net, it looks like the vault has been flooded at various times at many different levels.... I wouldn't hold out much hope for that car being anything but a complete mess!
