Default Remove 51-53 steering wheel

Hi, I bought a steering wheel supposedly for a 1951-53 Dodge. Id like to install it but I cant figure out how to get the hub/horn ring (which is all one piece) off. Ive tried prying it off with a screw driver but all Ive done so far is put a couple of nice chips in the steering wheel itself[:@]. Maybe the horn ring/hub assembly needs to be rotated and then simply lifted off? But if so, in which direction-clockwise or counter clockwise? Ive tried that and it doesnt seem to want to budge. Can anyone help me? Its a beautiful steering wheel and Id love to use it without damaging it even more. Thanks

George Leonard
