Default 1930 Dodge Sedan

Information wanted on 1930 Dodge Sedan:
I just inheriting my father's 1930 Dodge sedan. He acquired this vehicle sometime around 1960 or before. He maintained it until his death in 1993, since which time it has sat in a garage, and hasn't been started for (I would guess) at least 12 years or more.

I am desperate to learn more about where to begin in getting this thing back into running order.

This has ALL original paint (blue and black) and original interior, which is of a brown material, and lots of nice handles, fixtures, etc.

I believe the only things added or not correct to the time period:

1. Small heater under dash on passenger side
2. Something added to the front end to prevent a "shimmy" when driving over a bump, etc.
3. The the spokes were sanded down to the bare wood grain and refinished with a varnish.
I believe this was done before my father acquired it.

This vehicle is (all things considered) in "good" condition. The chrome is, however, showing its years, and a subtle surface rust is visible in various places on the body.

Can anyone give me advice? Should I rechrome and repaint this thing? Or leave it in its "original" state?

I am also looking for a 1930 Dodge manual and a parts source.

Are they out there?

My immense thanks for any advice anyone may have to offer this soon-to-be restorer of a 1930 Dodge sedan!

Hey Man,
I have a similiar story My grandfather gave me his 1930 4 door sedan 6 cyl. I got it two weeks ago, on ebay I found manuals from a place in Ont Can, I can give you the name if you would like.
I am getting more info on this car from lots of places, my car is Black fenders, Beige bottom and darker brown upper body color and in excellent condition.
My advice is don't do anything to it to much to take from its original parts cond its ok to restore. Take your time and search around, rechroming will bring it back and increase your value long as you use original parts if they are salvageable.
To get motor parts are easy, especially if its a 6cyl I am 37 and quite amazed at these cars the craftsman ship and detail are amazing. If I hear of more people like us we should all link up to learn from each other.
I'm from Nova Scotia and just joined this site today lets keep in touch.
