Default 1979 Dodge Adventurer Custom

I'll be sure to add pictures of certain things I'm talking about as I write about them. I'm 21 and never grew up with anyone who was into vehicles. Some how, I started to love them, research into them, and of course buy them. When I was 17 I went to my friends step dads house where he had an old 1979 dodge adventurer just sitting in the corner. Flat front tire but an absolute gorgeous paint job and huge slicks sitting on air bags.

He was asking 10 000 dollars (obviously way to much). So being 17 I just looked at it as a diamond in the rough and I didn't have a pick. So when I got established and money was rollin in I went back to his step father and picked it up for 5400 dollars. Not bad considering it drove 30km home after sitting for 4 years. The tires where squared off real bad and it was like driving a boat on land all the way home, but holy crap it hauled ***.

I've got the Vin number and this is what I've learned.
2 Wheel drive / conventional cab
100 series 1/2 ton
Conv Cab W/ Sweptline, Hi Line Wagon (Royal Sportsman)
6,001 to 8,500 (1979-1980)
318-1 2v V8 (I'll get to this later)
1979 9 Series

Of course this vehicle wouldn't completely haul *** with a 318. I was told it was a 360 4valve and it has less then 20 000km's on it. The only numbers I could find on the engine were 400630-360-4.

To bad it wasn't a 440 but I'm not that lucky. Right now the vehicles under a tent outside. However, I'm moving in 2 months and the place we've put an offer on has a nice 1100 square foot shop. So it's time to fix it up. First thing that pissed me off was the bullet proof ford 9 inch that is given me a one tire fire. Hopefully when I get that cracked open it'll be an easy fix.

Then of course when I get it home for the first night I decide to take my wife out for a spin. Driving down a backroad with no street lights bam, my lights go out. Open the hood and of course the wiring is just a mess and sitting for 4 years didn't help one bit. So I finally find the problem one day when the vehicle itself wont even start. Wasn't the battery because my lights were still working. So after looking around and having my wife sit in the truck continuosily trying to fire it up I start hitting things. Bam I hit this and it starts.

Hopefully this is my problem. Replacing it shouldn't be hard but understanding it is where I'm stuck.

So my first plan is to get the electrical all running. The engine is sound, yes the headers need to be replaced because I've got a nice header leak on number 4 but otherwise its just the electrical. My wind shield whipers some times dont like to work until you hit the whiper engine with a hammer.

So I guess my main question is where do I get books on this? Since the engine isn't original will I run into any wiring problems that I'll have to figure out myself? Anything and everything will help. Movies (youtube), books, websites, w/e. I've got lots of time.

Need more pictures just let me know. Thanks a lot for reading hope its not to long.
