my mind my be off but ill try. iam just guessing its not a oil bath. thats an other story. the top metal plate is stuck. take two small screwdrivers and pray slowly. on all older chryslers measure that the old element to be sure it fits the housing, and check the new element that it fits the housing to. some older books dont list the right element. this happened to my dad on a 1977 chrysler new yorker 440, the book called out one for a Dodge 440, but its a different housing, the dodge has a shorter elenent, even though both are 440s e-mail moe7404@gmail.com
