Default 1959 D100 318 runs rich AGHHHH!

So, I replaced the old Stromberg WW with a Mopar-remanufactured WW, and it still runs rich. Can't go any tighter on Mixture screws. Timing is good. What else could it be? Can the point setting affect this? PLEASE HELP! THANK YOU!

could be the fuel pump has to much pressure. or it is pumping trash into the carb. or bad float.

Thanks again Moe. I'm waiting for new EI distributor and coil, then if it still runs rich I will get a fuel pump pressure regulator. Can't imagine what else it could be. I have to assume the carb is o.k. as it is a Mopar Reman. and I don't want to open it.

Thanks! Just installed HEI distributor (Chinese), and Pertronix Flamethrower coil, and it seems the rich smell is gone. Does anyone recommend opening the spark plug gap a bit as it suggests in Pertronix coil literature?

yes DO set the plug like Pertronix say. some CDI systems can be as high as .06-.08 inch. a long time ago i had delta mk 10. in a 1957 dodge PU i put some race plugs that was fuel fouled. they ran just fine.
