10-40 should be fine unless you are in the arctic or death valley(extreme hot or cold). Synthetics tend to find places to leak from if you motor is not sealed well.

That old of an engine was not built with synthetic in mind. Imo stick with conventional.

Amazon.com: Lucas Oil 10688-6PK SAE 10W-40 Hot Rod and Classic Car High Performance Motor Oil - 1 Quart Bottle, (Case of 6): Automotive Amazon.com: Lucas Oil 10688-6PK SAE 10W-40 Hot Rod and Classic Car High Performance Motor Oil - 1 Quart Bottle, (Case of 6): Automotive

Just ordered this for my 66 Poly 318. Says it had 2100ppm zinc - whatever it was that motor oil of this age had in it. Specially made for old engines.

I have zero complaints on Lucad Products so far, but never used their motor oil. I mostly use their upper cyl head lubricant and used their tranny sealer once. Been using the upper cyl lube for around 12 years now.
